GREAT FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – Two men from Michigan have been arraigned in U.S. District Court in Great Falls based on allegations that they possessed and intended to distribute fentanyl in Hill County and on the Rocky Boy’s Reservation.
27-year-old Deion Vincent Brown of Detroit and 22-year-old Brandon Lamar Louis James of Southfield have pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
They each face a maximum 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine, and three years of supervised release. Brown and James were released pending further proceedings.
A federal grand jury indicted Brown and James based on allegations that from June 2020 to at least June of 2021, they unlawfully conspired and agreed to distribute fentanyl and fluorofentanyl at or near Box Elder.
The FBI, Tri-Agency Task Force, Russell Country High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and Bureau of Indian Affairs investigated the case.
