HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Arts Council (MAC), Montana’s state arts agency, has announced the 89 recipients of its American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grants.
Awarded to MAC by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), grants will support an array of artistic disciplines, including tours and performances, murals, recording projects, films, arts education materials, paintings, books, and sculptures.
Many of the recipients are from north-central Montana.
The list includes:
- Samantha Bird of Cut Bank, who is receiving $10,000 for Painting for Positive Futures
- Valentina Lapier of East Glacier, who is receiving $10,000 for Traditional Parfleche Native American Art
- Megan Karls of Great Falls, who is receiving $9,193 for Re-Envisioned: Montana Composers in Mission Churches
- Sheree Nelson of Great Falls, who is receiving $10,000 for a mural installation in downtown Great Falls
- Norman Menzales of Great Falls, who is receiving $10,000 for the Filipino Flute Recording Project
- Micah Rauch of Great Falls, who is receiving $10,000 for Helping Youth Appreciate Montana’s Weird Wilds!
- James Rickley of Great Falls, who is receiving $10,000 for Flowing Waters – Music New to Great Falls
- Jacob Cowgill of Power, who is receiving $10,000 for Small Town, Long Streets: Coming Together in Rural Montana
- Betty Buckley of Power, who is receiving $10,000 for Flyover Country
- Whitney Polich of Vaughn, who is receiving $9,945 for Egg Tempera Landscapes
- The Montana State Old Time Fiddlers’ Association, Inc. in Denton will be receiving $5,000
