Montana Chief Justice Cory Swanson speaks out against partisan judge law.

(Helena – MFP) Supreme Court of Montana Chief Justice Cory Swanson recently spoke in a Montana House and Senate joint session against a proposition to make partisan registration mandatory in Montana judicial races.

Swanson, sworn in as the judicial branch’s top official in January, was one of several officials to address the Legislature February 17th, following three members of the state’s federal delegation and a tribal nation chairman.

The proposal cleared a senate committee hearing earlier this month, and has been endorsed by many Republicans in the legislature; as well as Montana State Governor Greg Gianforte.
