HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Montana’s increasing COVID-19 case count continued to climb this weekend as the Department of Public Health and Human Services announced 52 new cases of the virus.
32 cases were announced on Saturday and 20 were announced on Sunday.
The cases came from 1,935 tests conducted. The 32 cases announced on Saturday were the most new cases in a single day in the Treasure State since March 26th.
Two of the new cases are in Toole County and are believed to have been caused by community spread through recent in-state travel. They represent the first new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county in about two months.
Other local counties with new confirmed cases are Cascade with two and Glacier with one.
In northeastern Montana, both Dawson and Richland Counties confirmed one new cases. Dawson saw its first case of the virus while Richland picked up three new cases, bringing its total to eight.
In total, Montana has confirmed 717 cases of COVID-19. 548 are considered recovered, while 149 remain active. 15 people are hospitalized and 20 have died due to COVID-19.
