Montana’s COVID Case Rate Increasing

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Like most of the country, the rate of new COVID-19 cases in Montana is continuing to increase.

On Wednesday, Montana reported 231 new COVID-19 cases, the second straight day of at least 200 new cases of the virus.

Prior to this week, the last time Montana reported at least 200 cases in a single day was February 8th.

The active case count is at 1,046, with 93 active hospitalizations.

DPHHS says the highly contagious delta variant now makes up more than 50 percent of recently sequenced samples, and unvaccinated Montanans are accounting for 94 percent of new COVID-related hospitalizations.
