HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Governor’s office has announced that Montana’s unemployment rate declined to 3.6 percent in May.
This is down from 4 percent in January 2021 and 9.1 percent in May 2020. The national unemployment rate in the U.S. for May 2021 was 5.8 percent.
Montana’s total employment, which includes payroll, agricultural, and self-employed workers, grew by 2,221 in May. The labor force added 1,908 workers, while payroll jobs declined by 700. This is believed to be associated with declines in Construction and Leisure and Hospitality.
