MSU-Extension Office & Hill County Health Department to Help Volunteers Make Health Care Masks

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The MSU-Extension Hill County Office and Hill County Health Department are asking for volunteers to make reusable masks for health care, EMS and law enforcement.

MSU-Extension Agent Jasmine Carbajal says they are asking the community if they have some extra time to sew for a great cause.

“So, what we’re asking is for our community, if they have the time, if they’re excited about a new project while they’re at home right now under quarantine and trying to stay inside, is to make some reusable masks. And so we have, at the MSU-Extension office, fabric. You know, if people are maybe thinking about making masks but they are not so sure because they might not have fabric, we have lots of fabric and so we will provide the pattern.”

Carbajal says you don’t have to know how to sew to make the masks and it would be a great activity for kids to participate in as well.

“It is pretty basic and, you know, for someone that doesn’t know how to sew there’s lots of YouTube videos that we will provide, that we can send links to, that show them exactly how to do it step-by-step. So, you know, not only do they get written instructions and the pattern that they need to cut those, but also I will give them resources so they can feel confident and they can have a visual.”

The MSU-Extension office is accepting donations starting Thursday, March 26 from 8-5 p.m.
