LOUISVILLE, Ky. (NMB) – Montana State University-Northern’s Diesel Technology student Cole Rhodes from Great Falls took second place at the 2019 SkillsUSA National Conference and Competition, which was held in Louisville, Kentucky in June.
A press release says Northern had two students compete in this year’s national competition. Automotive technology student Anton Poelman also participated.
Each contest had over 40 competitors and the diesel competition consisted of thirteen hands-on and writing stations testing competitor’s skills and knowledge.
In winning second place, Rhodes won several thousand dollars in tools and prizes. In automotive technology, Poelman from Helena placed 25th out of 44.
Students must first receive a gold medal at the state level to attend the national SkillsUSA competition.
