MSU-Northern Volleyball Home Opener Friday Night

The time is finally here for fans to witness competition of MSU-Northern volleyball. The team takes on Montana Western on Friday night and it will mark the start of the 2023 Frontier Conference season.

Head coach Jerry Wagner gives insight into how the Frontier Conference as a whole has improved in the last year and gives a scouting report on the Bulldogs.

“You’re just going to see a high-level brand of volleyball,” Wagner said. “Each year, we’ve gotten better, the conference has gotten better.”

“I expect (Montana Western) to play their best, but I think our best is better right now,” Wagner continued.

Montana Western comes into this match with a record of (13-1). Coach Wagner gives his flowers to the opponent, but knows that the most recent results will prove vital in beating a team with that kind of pedigree.

“The Bulldogs are a very good team and somehow underrated,” Wagner said. “We have a great respect for them.”

“In my opinion, (they’re) maybe the best team in the conference at least record-wise and style-wise, so you’re going to see a great match,” Wagner continued.

Coach Wagner has a message for the Havre community looking to make plans on Friday night.

“We’ve got to get our fans out. We’ve got the greatest fans,” Wagner said. “I think they’re starting to follow this team a little bit and they should. They need to get out there (because) it’s going to be great.”

The Skylights and Bulldogs do battle from the Armory Gymnasium on the campus on MSU-N with a 7pm start time.
