MSU student wins Alfred Sherwood Romer Prize

(MSU Bozeman) MSU paleontology doctoral student Jason Hogan was the recipient of the Alfred Sherwood Romer Prize of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology, following his presentation of research during the society’s 2023 annual meeting.

The research Hogan conducted involved the experimentation exploring the possible evolutionary transition of nesting reptiles into modern day birds.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in earth and ocean science from Duke University and a master’s in science education from Harvard, Hogan has been studying at MSU the past seven years.

Hogan is just the second MSU student to receive the award. Greg Erickson, currently a professor at Florida State University, gained the award in 1991.
