Monday was Day 1 of the MSU-Northern Lights Football Summer Camp. New Media Broadcasters caught up with head football coach Jerome Souers to ask what to expect over the next three weeks as practices and meetings get underway.
“We’re approximately three weeks and potentially five days per week. Monday through Friday we’ll be out on the practice field Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings training in football related events. We’ll also be lifting, doing meetings, that kind of thing. So, it’s a busy week.”-Souers
Coach Souers explained what the importance of having a summer program does for a team because before we all know it, Fall Camp will be underway.
“What it does, it helps act as a bridge program to new guys coming in. It really gives the old guys an opportunity to meet the new guys. We get a lot of team building done before August first, which is when we report.”-Souers
The first football game of the season for the Lights will be on Saturday, August 26th against the Mayville State University Comets. The game will start at 11am and be at Tilleman Field in Havre.
