CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) – The non-profit Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S.) Animal Shelter in Chinook continues to serve the community despite all of the challenges.
Manager Alissa Hewitt says thanks to donations, their fencing project is nearly complete.
“By sectioning (our big fenced in area) off, all of the dogs can be there at the same time now. We don’t have to rotate dogs that might not get along. Or maybe if we don’t have dogs that aren’t fixed yet, we don’t have to worry about that. We can put some in one area, some in the other, close the gates, and they can all just run and play and be free and not worry about how much time one had before it had to go away and pull out the next one. Because that’s a lot of stress on the dog and a lot of pressure on the volunteers that may not have enough time to be there.”
The Shelter will be holding an adoption event that is open to the public this Saturday from 8 AM-Noon at the shelter.
“We have quite a few dogs that are available for adoption. So we thought it was a really good time now that summer is over, we’ve had a chance to kind of relax and breathe, now we can bring all of the dogs in and we’d love for people to come out that might be interested in dogs. They can come out and meet them. They are all going to be there. And we’re really excited to kind of show people a couple of the new things at the shelter.”
Other new additions to the shelter are increased shade, sitting areas, and more concrete flooring. To contact PAWS, call 281-0408 or email PAWSofChinook@gmail.com.
