MSU-Northern rodeo gained traction after its home rodeo over the weekend. New Media Broadcasters got the thoughts of head coach Doug Kallenberger following another set of performances. He mentioned two individuals who caught his eye that really needed a boost and they got that over the course of the action in front of the Havre crowd.
“Brooklin (Baukol) and Georgia (Orahood), even Allee (Bartlett) got their short round calves and steers down,” Kallenberger said. “And we’re getting to the short round. We’re getting 60 to 70 percent of our team back to the short round.”
“I think the one for me was Allee Barlett making her short round in the breakaway roping,” Kallenberger continued. “I thought Preston Bird did a really good job in the team roping.”
“Those were a couple of bright spots for me that I thought (were) kids are towards the top that need some more points,” Kallenberger said.
The Lights cowboys and Skylights cowgirls will be on hand in Miles City this weekend for another two rodeos in four days. Kallenberger said that there are just a few touches to clean up in the most important spots.
“We just need to do a little better job in not making any mistakes in the short rounds,” Kallenberger said. “We had three goat tyers in the short round and a lot of bobbles. We just need to clean that up. We’ll be fine.”
“The women’s team (is) still sitting third,” Kallenberger continued. They didn’t let anybody really take a big lead on them.”
“We’re 100 points behind,” Kallenberger said. “They look the last three rodeos in great shape.”
The schedule for this weekend’s Miles Community College rodeo is: Thursday Performance: 7pm / Friday Slack: 10am / Friday Short-Go: 7pm for the first rodeo. Saturday Slack: 10am / Saturday Performance: 7pm / Sunday Short-Go: 10am for the second rodeo.
