Lights wrestling had a tough weekend at the Tyler Plummer Classic after being dominant at the Missouri Valley Collegiate the week prior. New Media Broadcasters asked head coach Tyson Thivierge about his thoughts on the past couple of weeks and where the team stands right now.
“We took a limited group to Tyler Plummer,” Thivierge said. “I wanted to get them some matches.”
“I’ll tell you this: our performance at Missouri Valley is what we’re capable of doing,” Thivierge continued. “The guys saw that. They wrestled (in) some great matches.”
“We’re just going to continue to build on that momentum,” Thivierge said.
These next two weeks will be critical because Northern wrestles conference opponents at home. Thivierge said how much the team is looking forward to performing in front of the home crowd again.
“We’ve got two very tough conference duals coming up,” Thivierge said. “We’ve got a big task ahead of us this weekend.”
“The next week and half, we’ve got two top-10 teams coming in,” Thivierge continued. “We haven’t been home since October 25th, so we’re very excited about it.”
“We’re narrowing down our 12 (wrestlers we’re taking to Nationals),” Thivierge said. “We’re going to keep moving forward.”
The Lights will have their next two duals be at home, starting with Embry-Riddle on Saturday night. Coverage starts at 7pm from the Armory Gym.
