Havre, MT – After opening up the season at home with a pair of losses to the Helena Reps, the Havre Northstars bounce back to claim victory over the Glasgow Reds in a tight game one (12-11), and 10 run victory in game two (19-9).
Archer Sawdey struggled at the mound to start; walking in two runs for the reds in the first inning. Heading into the bottom of the fourth Havre trailed 9-1 after just giving up six runs.
The Northstars responded offensively in the bottom of the fourth with five runs of their own before adding five more runs in the bottom of the fifth to hold an 11-10 lead. Havre closed out game one 12-11.
Game two looked like another tight one with it all tied after two innings at six a piece. In the third Havre took control giving up zero runs and exploding offensively for 12 runs.
It was cruise control from then on for the Northstarts to claim the 19-9 win. Teegan Soloman led the Blue Ponies on the mound with four strike outs.
Havre is now 2-2 and will head to Helena on Sunday.
