NorthStar’s Enter Final Regular Season Weekend.

Havre, MT – Havre Northstars baseball is riding the momentum of a 5-game winning streak into their final pair of double headers against Medicine Hat and the Lethbridge Miners this weekend.

Havre’s latest wins came in Conrad on Wednesday and were completely controlled by the NorthStars. Havre defeated the Tri-county Cardinals 18-2 in game one and 14-0 in game two.

The Northstar offense is averaging 15 runs per game during their five-game winning streak and head coach Ben Mader said it’s all because of team improvement.

“I would just say that they’re at bats have been improving. They’re not panicking with two strikes; we’re running pitch counts up on the other team really well and they’re just seeing a lot of pitches and having quality at bats.”

Part of that hot offense is coming from Havre’s two-way star Quin Elliot. In eight at bats between games one and two in Conrad Elliot drilled six pitches for 10 RBIs.

On the mound in game two Elliot pitched 4.2 innings without giving up a run while throwing nine strikeouts. Coach Mader said Quin’s play this season has been a product of hard work and team support.

“He’s just steady. It really says a lot about his work ethic in the offseason. He has put a lot of work in both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The team loves it and he is just really good at playing team ball.”

Coach Mader continued to speak to where his team’s mindset is heading into the weekend. “Just go 1-0; Focus on the pitchers in at the time and focus on the game that you’re playing at the time. That’s our mindset.”

First Pitch against Medicine Hat Saturday is set for 1p.m. Havre Northstar baseball still sits at second place in the North A standings with a 19-5 league record and a 26-17-1 season record. In conference play the Northstars are 8-2 at American Legion Park.
