Northstars Match Season’s Largest Win Streak

Evan Suarez – Ira Bowman – Havre, MT – Keeping up the momentum heading into the final games of the season, the Havre Northstars traveled to Conrad to face off in a doubleheader against the Tri-County Cardinals Wednesday night.

Staying hot offensively, the Northstars put up 18 runs in game one leading them to a strong 18-12 victory.

Havre got off to a rocket start thanks to Quinn Elliot’s bases clearing three run RBI triple in the top of the first. He led the Northstars with six RBIs on four hits.

The Cardinals put up an impressive seven runs in the bottom of the third to make it a tie ball game, but Havre answered with four more runs of their own in the top of the fourth off a Tyson Brandon double to get things going.

Quinn Elliot, Archer Sawdey, Tyson Brandon, and Connor Essert each had multiple hits for Havre in the affair.

The Northstars controlled game two with their bats on fire and strong pitching play to grab a suffocating 14-0 win over the Cardinals.

Havre came out the gates with three runs in the first and six more runs in the third inning to lead 9-0. Havre pushed their lead to 14 with a five-run inning in the top of the sixth to call game.

Quin Elliot got the win on the mound after pitching 4.2 innings where he gave up one hit, no runs and threw nine strikeouts for the Northstars.

Tyson Brandon, Archer Sawdey, Quin Elliot, and Kody Standiford, each secured two hits at the plate with Archer Sawdey and Quin Elliot knocking in four RBIs to lead the team.

The win marks Havre’s fifth straight as they head home for a pair of double headers against the Medicine Hat Knights Saturday with first pitch at 1p.m.

Sunday the Northstars will end the regular season in a battle of one versus two in the North A standings on Sunday against the Lethbridge Miners. First Pitch is scheduled for 3p.m.
