(NMB) The Havre Northstars baseball team is in the final stretch of their season and picked up two more wins on the road Tuesday night over the Great Falls Chargers by scores of 14 to 8 and 16 to zero. Head coach Patch Wirtzberger says the pitching has been consistent all year and now the defense and bats are getting more consistent. “The pitching has been good all year long and now here in the last week or so, we’ve started to play really good defense and now the bats are starting to come alive a little bit, Really happy with where we’re at.”
The Northstars travel to Florence for games against Belgrade, the Bitteroot Red Sox and Bucks and The Lewistown Redbirds, beginning Thursday and according to Wirtzberger it’s all about staying consistent. ” We jus talk about not getting complacent at this point. They’ve had some success here in the past weeks and it’s easy to just let down a little bit. Just trying to keep building here towards the end of the season.”
The Northstars are currently 27 and 17 on the year and will host the District Tournament in Havre July 21st through the 24th.
