(Havre) – The Havre Northstars American Legion Baseball Team returned home to Legion Field to host the Miles City Mavericks on Saturday night. The Northstars earned a split of the double header.
In the first game The Northstars utilized a big first inning to take a 7-0 l;ead. After a scoreless 2nd inning the Mavericks scored four runs in the top of the 3rd inning and the Northstars one in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead to 8-4. in the 4th inning, the Northstars added four more runs extending their leads to eight. Miles City scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 12-9 in favor of the Northstars. The Northstars added one in the home half of the inning to make the score 13-9. Miles City exploded in the sixth inning scoring 11 runs to take their first lead of the game 20-13. The Mavericks then silenced the Northstars bats in the final two innings for the 20-13 victory. Ezra Pyle led the Northstars offensively with three runs batted in while Tanner DeLarosa was solid on the mound again striking out 10 Mavericks in five and one third innings of work.
The Northstars turned the tables on the Mavericks in the second game for a 13-3 run rule game. Havre scored in every inning of the five inning second game of the double header to secure the run rule victory. Tanner Delarosa sarked the Nothstar offense with three runs batted in, while Quinn Elliot picked up the victory on the mound for Havre.
With the doubleheader split the Northstars record is now 3 and 1 on the season and their next game is In Great Falls on Sunday May 18th against the Great Falls Chargers “A” Team.
