HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Office of Governor Greg Gianforte announced on Friday that the number of employed Montanans in June 2022 reached a new all-time high of 550,112.
The unemployment rate for June in Montana was 2.6 percent, a 0.2 percent increase from May. This is because growth in the labor force narrowly outpaced job growth.
According to the Montana Department of Labor and Industry and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, June 2022 marked the 26th straight month of an increase in employed Montanans.
For Montana, payroll employment rose in June by 4,400 jobs, with the largest gains in private sector health care, accommodation, and food service industries.
Montana’s labor force increased by nearly 1,800 in June, bringing that figure to 564,537, a new all-time high.
