HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Department of Public Health and Human Services reported another 1,760 new COVID-19 cases across the state in their Thursday morning update as their data shows the Omicron variant is making up the vast majority of new cases.
84 percent of specimens sequenced in the last week have been Omicron, while the remaining were all Delta.
As of January 11th, at least one case of Omicron has been confirmed in over half of all counties and Reservations across the state.
Four counties reported over 100 new COVID cases on Thursday, led by Gallatin County with 473. Next was Yellowstone with 289, Missoula with 249, and Flathead with 162.
There is at least one active confirmed case of the virus in every county except for Petroleum and Treasure.
