HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) ― A pack of wild dogs have been spotted in Beaver Creek Park.
The pack was seen last week by cabin owner Bob Williams who says the three dogs killed a deer.
“I did see a grey dog and what looked like kind of a Rottweiler type looking dog and then there was a German Shepherd looking dog and there was a black Lab. As soon as they see you they are gone. So, I stayed in my cabin and they were probably about 75 yards away.”
Williams says wild dogs kill for sport and not only create dangerous conditions for recreation in the area but can put livestock in grave danger as well.
“They kind of kill for the sport when a dog pack gets together. It’s kind of a frenzy type thing. They are really not much different than, you know, a pack of wolves. That’s my concern, if you were out walking by yourself or maybe you had your dog with you – you know it’s kind of a dangerous situation.”
Williams says that dog tracks have been seen in neighboring yards and game cameras have picked up other wild dogs in the area as well.
Williams urges the public to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves when enjoying nature this year.
