HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The draft 2019-2023 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program is now available for public comment. A press release says that there is a list of projects planned for Montana for the next five federal fiscal years.
The Montana Department of Transportation is looking for public input on these projects, which are due by June 26th.
Some local projects include safety improvements in and around Havre. This year, they plan on working on bank stabilization on US Highway 2 and reconstruction on Highway 2 east and west of Lohman.
Next year, they hope to flatten the sloped on Secondary Highway 234 south of Havre, reconstruct culverts in Chinook and Harlem on Highway 2, chip seal on Highway 2 west of Havre, and a major rehab project on Boulevard Avenue in Havre. They also plan on doing an overlay on Highway 2 west of Malta, as well as a slide correction on US 191 north of the DY Junction.
In 2021, they hope to do a bridge rehab on a bridge deck on Secondary Highway 234 south of Havre and another bridge rehab on US 191 over the Missouri River.
In 2022, they plan on making safety improvements to US 87 south of Havre, as well and installing rumble strips north of Malta and a bridge replacement on Larb Creek Road south of Saco.
In 2023, they plan on a reconstruction project on Highway 2 east of Zurich and Harlem and a bridge replacement on Secondary Highway 204 near Dodson.
