GREAT FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking public input on a scoping document that will lead to a proposed conservation easement on 4,400 acres in northern Fergus County near Winifred.
A press release says that FWP is inviting the public to identify issues and concerns on the property known as Whiskey Ridge Conservation Easement.
The property consists primarily of sagebrush-grassland about eight and a half miles north of Winifred. It adjoins an additional 15,400 acres of state Department of Natural Resources and Conservation and federal Bureau of Land Management lands, including the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument.
The primary objectives of this proposed conservation easement are to provide perpetual conservation and enhancement of high-quality native habitats, maintain traditional land uses and provide public recreational opportunity.
The comment period will end October 24th. The scoping document can be found on the FWP website.
