Recruitment Event Scheduled for Head Start and Early Head Start

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – District 4 Human Resources Development Council and Northern Montana Child Development Center will be hosting a special recruitment event for Head Start and Early Head Start later this month.

Katie Bodner, Child Services Director, say this will be at Pepin Park on Friday, July 22nd from 11 AM-3 PM.

“Unfortunately, due to COVID, the enrollment numbers across the nation in Head Start and Early Head Start have been affected. So our family services team did some brainstorming and thought this would be a really good idea to get our name out into the community. Because there are plenty of people who have never heard of us and will qualify for probably at least one of the services that HRDC provides. So we just went ahead, rented Pepin, and put together this big event.”

Bodner says these programs offer a wide variety of services.

“We also offer nutrition and health services within our program. We really just want to give children and their families the opportunity to get that head start before they move into kindergarten. We focus a lot on the social and emotional development of children, so that when they are moving into the public or private school system, they have that ability to communicate and have the social and emotional capacity to learn.”

Plant A Seed… Read!, Bullhook Clinic, and Family Connections will all be at the event.

Everyone is welcome to this event, which will feature multiple activities and a BBQ. Applications will be available.
