Registration for Inaugural Bear Paw Marathon Underway

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Registration for the inaugural Bear Paw Marathon, which will take place on June 6, 2020, is underway.

The marathon is being put on by the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce. Julea Robbins, the Executive Director for the Chamber, says the initial reception has been positive.

“A lot of the local people are very excited to have a local run, because they’ve been traveling all over the state (for marathons),” Robbins says. “And we’ve heard from out of town people that they are excited to come to Havre and see something new. The Bear Paws are just so beautiful that time of year that everybody is kind of excited to have a really, really gorgeous run.”

The marathon will travel through much of Beaver Creek Park, with the finish line on the MSU-Northern campus. There is not currently a cap on registration.

“If we get too high and if we decide we can’t hold anymore, then we’ll cut it off,” Robbins says. “But right now, we’re leaving it open. Since it’s the first year, we don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Participants can choose to run the full 26.2 mile marathon for $70 or the half marathon for $55. There is also a 1 mile run that is $15 for adults and $10 for kids.
