CUT BANK, Mont. (NMB) – Congressman Greg Gianforte will be speaking before an audience attending the Rail Passengers Association Spring Passenger Rail Conference at the Elks Lodge in Cut Bank this Saturday, May 18th.
A press release says that they will have a buffet luncheon from noon to 1 PM and will have several other guest speakers. Representatives for US Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines have joined the list of speakers for the event. They join Havre Representative Jacob Bachmeier, RPA’s President and CEO, a BNSF representative, and others.
A celebration of 90 years of the Empire Builder’s continuous service between the Great Lakes and Pacific Northwest will be held during this gathering. A painting by renowned artist, J. Craig Thorpe, will depict the eastbound Empire Builder on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation west of Cut Bank, near the site of Meriwether Lewis’ Camp Disappointment.
The meeting theme will be the importance of Amtrak’s Empire Builder to the citizens of Montana and retaining daily service to multiple rural communities that rely on Amtrak.
