GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, Mont. (NMB) – The National Park Service says that the reservation requirement to travel on Going-to-the-Sun Road will end after Labor Day.
The requirement has been in place since late May and has been in effect daily from 6 AM-5 PM. The road will remain fully open through mid-October, weather permitting.
Officials have said the new system helped reduce congestion, but it has also led to frustration among many who have been unable to get tickets online.
The Park’s shuttle service for this year will also conclude after Labor Day.
Construction will continue in and around the Park through the fall, so tourists should expect delays, especially in the Many Glacier area and on US Highway 2 between Hungry Horse and West Glacier.
