Salvation Army Preparing for Red Kettle Campaign

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The holiday season is fast approaching, and that means the Salvation Army is gearing up for their annual red kettle campaign.

In Havre, kettle bells will pop up outside North 40, Gary & Leo’s IGA and the Holiday Village mall starting on Saturday. There will be bell ringers outside Wal-Mart beginning Nov. 29.

The campaign runs through Dec. 24 and provides funding for the Salvation Army’s emergency services.

Trina Crawford, Director of the Havre Service Extension of The Salvation Army, says this year’s goal is to raise $32,000 with their red kettle campaign, $1,000 more than last year’s haul.

“The reason for that is just the needs are so much greater. This whole last year, I’d say probably 6 out of the last 12 months, we actually ran out of money before the month was over. And it wasn’t because of anything other than that the needs are so great.”

Crawford adds that they are currently looking for volunteers, and are willing to provide flexible scheduling.

“We can work it out. Even if you can’t give that much time, if that’s something you want to do, all you have to do is come talk to us about that and we can work it out. We love our volunteers and we will do what we need to do not only to help them, but to make it successful for us.”

Those looking to volunteer for the red kettle campaign can do so by heading to https://volunteer.usawest.org or by calling 265-6411, extension 107.
