(Great Falls) – The Havre and Chinook areas saw a severe thunderstorm come through the area on Sunday night. Julianna Grinskas a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Great Falls tells us what conditions led to the storm.
“So, we have had a very unstable pattern that has set up over, really over the whole state of Montana the last few days where we’ve got quite a bit of moisture that is coming up through the area, combined with some of the hotter temperatures and you get just enough of a forcing mechanism and you can start to get storms to track and move across the area.”
During the storm, the City of Havre’s Severe Weather Siren went off. According to the Havre Police Department the siren was activated accidentally by a lightning strike.
