Shields Loop in Custer Gallatin National Forest to temporarily close.

(Livingston) The Custer Gallatin National Forest says that the Shields Loop will be closed via special order for repairs and upkeep.

The park says that starting July 8th through July 21st, the road will be unavailable to through traffic because of resurfacing. Additionally, forest visitors will experience 15 to 30 minute delays until October if they use the Shields River Road.

This repair is part of the Upper Shields Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout Conservation Project, which sees rapid repopulation in Cutthroat Trout when they’re returned to reclaimed streams.
