HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – This Saturday, the Snowdance Ski Association will open their Bear Paw Winter Sports shop to allow people to make seasonal rentals before the season sets in. Association President Claire Stoner says the shop is in the old Creative Leisure building at 417 1st St. in Havre and they’ll be open from 10 AM to 1 PM. This is the second year they’ve opened the rental shop.
“Last year, it was really good. We had a lot of college kids were able to get out and ski. And we saw a lot more young skiers and families because it’s really affordable to rent. We had all the rental equipment donated to us so we’re keeping the cost down.”
They have also installed a new rope tow to help new skiers learn how to ski.
“This year, we hope to have the rope tow up and running. It’s out there. We’re just waiting to get power to it. And that will allow a lot more skiers to learn how to ski. And that’ll be a really great opportunity for people to come out.”
Stoner says that because Bear Paw Ski Bowl is run by volunteers, they usually don’t open for skiing until January. For more information, or to volunteer, visit Bear Paw Ski Bowl’s Facebook page.
