Skylights Basketball Players Earn First-Time Weekly Honors

On Wednesday afternoon, the Frontier Conference came out with its first weekly awards in women’s basketball for the 2024-25 season. For the first time, there will be both offensive and defensive players of the week. MSU-Northern swept both categories after securing a (94-71) victory over Park University-Gilbert to open their campaign this past weekend.

Junior guard Taya Trottier scored the offensive player of the week award. She put up 20 points, made nine of her 13 shot attempts from the floor, and collected five assists with three rebounds. She was named Frontier Conference “Player of the Week” for the third time.

Senior guard Katelynn Forner became the inaugural holder of the Frontier Conference defensive player of the week. She had a historic day in a Skylights uniform, tying the program record with 10 steals with a stat line of nine points with 10 helpers, just one point shy of a rare triple-double.

Northern is getting ready for two games down in Great Falls for the University of Providence Classic as the Skylights take on the Masters University and the University of Jamestown this Friday and Saturday, respectively.
