Helena, MT – Prior to the Frontier Conference tournament, the post season awards were announced, and three Skylights were honored.
Skylights Freshman Lexi Jones was named the freshman of the year and was selected first team all-conference. Joining Jones on the All-Conference first team was senior Mace Selman. Skylights senior Libero, and two-time conference player of the week, Bailey Egan was named an honorable mention.
Coach Wagner of Skylights volleyball spoke to the character and high level of play these Skylights displayed throughout the season.
“I’ll start with Lexi. She is just a unique person, she came in and was able to handle it and you know was tied in first in blocks per set and hit .300 that’s what you’re hoping to get out of a middle blocker just so happened to be that she was also a freshman.” Wagner said about his freshman of the year.
Wagner also said how proud he was of Selman’s performance throughout the season. “Macee Selman, there was a few players of her caliber in this conference. You ask a lot of people she could just as easily be the player of the year in this conference. I’m extremely proud of her.”
In the 30 games the Skylights played this season Mace Selman put up 15 triple doubles with kills, assists, and digs. In the other 15 games Selman put a double double in each of them with either assists and kills or assists and digs.
Wagner went on to say how good of a libero his honorable mention is. “Baily Egan was on the Honorable mention team. There is a lot of good libero’s in this conference so it was kind of hard to get her any higher than that but I got to give a shout out to baily.”
