Helena, MT – Thursday night MSU-Northern Skylights volleyball took the court in Helena for their Frontier Conference tournament first round battle with the Carroll College Saints.
It was a close back and forth match with each team claiming victory every other set. In the fifth and final set the Skylights took control for an extra point win 18-16.
Northern finished with six aces to Carrolls two, and 71 kills to Carrolls 55. However, Carroll did out block Northern 16-11.
The skylights were led by Senior Macee Selman who put up a 24 kill, 31 assist and 22 dig triple double performance.
Lexi Jones put up eight blocks and Baily Egan led Northern in digs with 37.
The skylights now flip their focus to No. 6 Bellevue University in the Frontier Conference semifinal round. Bellevue swept Valley City state three sets to none to advance.
In the regular season Northern went 0-2 vs the Bruins and only won a single set out of seven. Northern and Bellevue will play in the late-night game at beginning at 7:30pm.
In other results from the Frontier Conference tournament. Montana Tech defeated Dakota State in four sets to advance and take on the Providence Argos who swept Montana Western three sets to none.
