The MSU-Northern Skylights volleyball team took the court as a unit for the first time since winning at the Big Sky Games last month. On Friday night, the team hosted the first of two exhibition matches against Skylights volleyball alumni.
The current Skylights were able to dominate in a sweep, (25-14, 25-23, 25-14). While the final line didn’t matter for record purposes, it was a test for MSU-N volleyball to get into a cohesive bond and develop chemistry that will be needed to go through another Frontier Conference season.
“The match was highly competitive,” Skylights coach Jerry Wagner said to New Media Broadcasters in a statement. “It was invaluable for my team to compete with and against the MSU-N Alumni greats. It’s a win for all no matter how you slice it.”
The Skylights will be on court again for more of the same as a second “Alumni Game” takes place at the Armory Gym next Friday, which is scheduled for 6pm. This event precedes Frontier Conference volleyball media day, which will be held on Tuesday.
