Taylor Fire in Fergus County Over 27,000 Acres

FERGUS COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – After better mapping was conducted, the Taylor Fire in northwestern Fergus County has been determined to be at just over 27,100 acres with no containment as of early Tuesday.

The Taylor Fire was sparked on Sunday between Denton and Winifred and crossed the Judith River on Monday.

No injuries or damage to structures has been reported at this time.

A cause of the fire has not been determined.

Bear Springs Road has been closed from the Taylor residence to Judith River, and Everson Road is closed where it intersects with Sunnyside Road. The public is advised to stay away from the area.

Residents will be notified if evacuations are ordered.

Resources from the local, state and federal level are all at the scene.

Firefighters are prioritizing suppressing the fire as quickly as possible while protecting values at risk such as infrastructure, private property and natural resources.

Dry fuels and strong winds have increased the workload for firefighters and resources working to contain the fire, and suppression efforts are expected to continue through the rest of the week.
