HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Wednesday afternoon fire in a trailer home in Havre rendered the structure a total loss.
Assistant Fire Chief Nate Courtnage says his department received a call of a fire at the 1600 block of Smithville Road shortly after 4:30 PM Wednesday.
Upon arrival, smoke and flames were seen coming out from the windows of the trailer home. Fire Department personnel were able to control the fire within 15 minutes of arrival, but the structure suffered extensive damage to both the interior and exterior.
One occupant of the home suffered minor injuries and transported themselves to Northern Montana Hospital for treatment.
17 personnel from the Havre Fire Department responded to the scene with three fire engines, one ambulance and one command vehicle. Authorities from the Havre Police Department also responded.
Crews remained on scene until 7:28 PM to ensure the fire wouldn’t reignite and to begin their investigation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.
In addition, the Havre Fire Department would like to remind residents to stay away from active fires in order to allow authorities to properly respond, and to always pull over to the side of the road when they see a fire department vehicle with lights flashing.
