9C Senior Classic Recap

The annual 9C Senior Classic took place last week on the hardwood in Rudyard, with area hoopers having one final chance to compete this season.

In the girls game, the white team, coached by Mike Jones of Chinook, defeated the dark team, 67-64.

Angela Gopher and Mariah Arkinson of Box Elder were named the MVPs of the game.

Laynie Sattoriva of North Star led the way for the winning team by scoring 16 points. Alliyah Pretty Paint of Hays-Lodgepole scored 11, and Arkinson had 10. The dark team was led by Gopher, who scored 20 points, with Ashlee Wang of Fort Benton adding 18.

The girls three point contest was won by Makaela Kelly of Box Elder, while Tatum Hull of CJI was runner-up.

In the boys game, the white team, coached by Joe Horel of Chester-Joplin-Inverness, took down the dark team, 82-75.

Toby Niederegger of Chinook and Tyshawn Shambo of Hays-Lodgepole were the MVPs.

Toby Niederegger of Chinook was the leading scorer, pouring in 19 points in the victory. Braydon Cline of Big Sandy had 13, while his Pioneer teammate Lane Demontiney scored 11.

The dark team was led by Tyshawn Shambo of Hays-Lodgepole and Oskar Pula of Chinook, who scored 15 and 13 points, respectively. Garrett Spicher of North Star scored 12, while Gabe Saddler of Box Elder had 11.

The boys three point contest winner was Braden Eoff of Chinook, while Niederegger, his Sugarbeeter teammate, was the runner up.

Fellow Sugarbeeter Oskar Pula was the slam dunk champion.

The champions of the Shooting Stars competition was the team comprised of Jackson Schmele of Fort Benton, and Nashone Shambo and Tahtianna Morgan of Hays-Lodgepole.
