HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Northern Montana Health Care Received $12,130 from Helmsley Charitable Trust Foundation Wednesday, April 29.
The grants were given to fund LUCAS Mechanical CPR equipment to help fight life-threatening cardiac issues that stem from COVID-19.
NMHC Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kevin Harada said, “We’re thankful that our facility will be receiving one of these devices. It will help improve the safety of our staff and help with preparations for a possible COVID-19 surge.”
Since Manual hands-on CPR is sometimes needed for extended periods of time, the risk to spread COVID-19 between patients and medical personnel is much higher without this device
Helmsley Charitable Trust Trustee Walter Panzirer said, “These devices are vital because we don’t want frontline healthcare workers to choose between trying to save a patient and risking exposure to themselves and others to the Coronavirus.”
With One in five COVID-19 patients experiencing cardiac problems, Helmsley Charitable Trust will be distributing 4.7 million dollars to help fund these devices across five upper-Midwestern states.
