
HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Steve Bullock hosted a press call and imparted details regarding how the state will assist Montana’s destination communities as they enter Phase Two.
Bullock said a new grant program will be available for destination communities starting June 1 at covid19.mt.gov.
“The Montana Business Adaptation Grant program will provide reimbursement for COVID-19 expenses related to keeping staff and businesses safe…Total funding available is $20 million and businesses can receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement.”
Bullock also announced gates into Yellowstone National Park will reopen June 1 as he feels they are now prepared to safely operate.
“I do feel that the park has worked to address the concerns we initially identified over tours and highly trafficked areas…Parks also invested in signage, boardwalk configurations, cleaning systems, Plexiglas and other measures to address needs for protection and social distance for staff and visitors.”
Bullock said they also hope to reopen Glacier National Park the second week of June, but this is subject to change.
Additionally, Bullock stated while the state enters Phase Two, they will be implementing an informational campaign for responsible travel. Bullock said it is imperative every Montanans continues to follow COVID-19 precautionary measures and that all visitors are aware and mindful of these measures as well.
