HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Havre firefighter will get his job back after a year long arbitration process. Engineer DJ Olson has been reinstated after he was fired amid accusations of harassing and bullying, insubordination, falsifying documents, and not having a firetruck ready for service.
Vice President of the 601 Firefighters Union Cody McLain says that the arbitrator cleared Olson of any harassing or bullying, insubordination, and false re-certifications.
The arbitrator did decided that Olson could have done things better in getting a truck ready for service. McLain said they don’t currently have a policy on how to thaw a frozen truck and that they are working on crafting a policy to avoid similar problems in the future.
Olson will return to work after a decision is made on things like his back-pay and benefits.
