Woofstock Returns this Saturday in Havre

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Friends of the Havre Animal Shelter is bringing back their Woofstock fundraiser this Saturday from 4-8 PM in Pepin Park.

Organization President Kim Federspiel says she is thrilled to bring the event back after it had to be canceled last year due to COVID-19 precautions.

“It should be pretty similar to the years before. We’ve got some live entertainment, live music, some food trucks coming – Fat Billy and the Boyz and Streatery – Triple Dog is doing the beer for us again, so we’ll have some beer. We’ll have a couple new things for kids to do, trying to keep it family oriented. We’ll also have the puppy kissing booth again, and that puppy debut of a new litter we have. We have a really neat raffle that we’re going to start at Woofstock and it’ll be drawn after the parade of Festival Days, it’s a really neat metal flag that Steve and Wanda McIntosh donated. So we’re going to start selling tickets and will have the flag at Woofstock for people to be able to see it.”

The live music will be provided by local band Blind Luck, which is known for performing classic rock.

All funds raised go back to Friends of the Shelter, which provides a variety of services.

“This kind of sets our year up, our budget year ends June 30th, so this kind of sets us up for the next year. What Friends of the Havre Animal Shelter uses funds for is anything outside of the shelter’s operating budget. So we cover some spaying and neutering, vaccinations, any kind of medication that animals need that come in and are hurt or sick. We pay for special surgeries when animals need it that are in the shelter. We pay for transfer costs for animals that get transferred to other shelters to prevent euthanasia. We just do pretty much anything the shelter needs. This year, we just ordered a (cat patio) for the shelter, so that’s very exciting.”

Dogs are welcome at the event, but must be friendly, on a leash and licensed with the city. People that live outside of Hill County must provide proof that their dog has received a rabies vaccine.

Dogs are not normally allowed in Havre City Parks, but the City Council approved this exception at their last meeting.

Admission is free, and the public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
