Woman Arrested in Havre after Allegedly Escaping Pre-Release

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A 22-year-old Billings woman is facing several charges in Hill County District Court after allegedly escaping a pre-release center and attempting to fight and flee law enforcement.

Kaira Shondell Harrison was arrested on August 19th in Havre and is facing the charges of felony attempted assault on a Peace Officer, as well as the misdemeanors of obstructing a Peace Officer and resisting arrest.

According to an affidavit filed in Court, Havre Police responded to a report of trespassers sleeping in a sitting room at the Eagles Manor on August 19th.

When a Sergeant asked Harrison to provide her name, she went on to give several false names. Harrison is alleged to have continue to refuse providing any identification, and at that point was charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer.

Court documents allege that Harrison then attempted to run away. However, while being placed under arrest, she attempted to throw a punch at the Sergeant’s head. The attempt missed and Harrison was assisted to the ground and eventually transported to the Hill County Detention Center.

When at the Detention Center, Harrison finally provided law enforcement with her real name. At that point, law enforcement discovered she had a no bond warrant for her arrest for felony escape

Harrison reportedly walked away from the Passages Women’s Program in Billings earlier this month. She was in the middle of serving a three year sentence handed down in Cascade County for possessing dangerous drugs.

Harrison remains in the Hill County Detention Center, with an arraignment set for September 13th.
