HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – A 19-year-old woman was killed and a 14-year-old girl was injured in a rollover crash near Helena on Monday morning.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 10:45 AM on Diamond Springs Drive. The 19-year-old was driving the Chevy Suburban southbound on the gravel road and failed to negotiate S-curves in the roadway.
The driver overcorrected and the vehicle ran off the roadway to the left and rolled multiple times.
Neither occupant of the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
The 19-year-old woman from Helena was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 14-year-old female passenger was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Excessive speed is a suspected factor in the crash.
