MISSOULA, Mont. (NMB) – NBC Montana reports that former University of Montana Women’s Basketball Coach Shannon Schweyen is suing the school, alleging sex discrimination after her contract was not renewed.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court. Schweyen claims her contract was wrongly terminated and is requesting to either be reinstated or to receive lost back pay and front pay. She alleges she was evaluated more harshly than male coaches due to her gender.
A spokesperson for the University of Montana refuted the allegations and says they “will defend the allegations in the appropriate forum.”
