UM President Announces Endowment to Powwow in Honor of Old Person

MISSOULA, Mont. (NMB) – University of Montana President Seth Bodnar has announced that he directed $300,000 from a recent gift to establish an endowment to support UM’s Powwow.

The new endowment is named after the late Chief Earl Old Person, one of the country’s most decorated and respected Native leaders, who died in October at the age of 92.

The endowment will help sustain and improve the student-run powwow. A celebration for the endowment was held Monday, with members of Old Person’s family in attendance.
