The Havre Northstars split their double header with the Laurel Dodgers Saturday, losing (4-3) in the first match up before bouncing back with a (10-8) victory in the second.
In the (4-3) loss, Laurel jumped out scoring one run in the first to take an early (1-0) lead. Havre answered back in the 2nd with a Tanner Delarosa single to score the tying run. The Dodgers scored three runs in the 3rd to take the (4-1) lead that held until the 6th inning. Jevin Jenkins of the Blue Ponies hit a single homerun with Havre scoring an additional run to only trail (4-3) heading into the final inning. Landen Bauer of the Dodgers was able to finish the game off at the pitching mound for the Dodgers and seal the victory. Bauer pitched the full 7 innings, allowing three runs with two strikeouts and one walk.
The Northstars bounced back in the 2nd match up vs the Dodgers with a (10-8) victory. The game was tied at three with Havre batting in the top of the fifth when Ezra Pyle grounded out, scoring one run. A six-run lead in the 7th inning was just enough for Havre to hold off Laurel for the victory. Laurel scored four runs in the failed comeback on a walk by Pierce Canton, a walk by Tanner Knaub, and a single by Evan Canton. Delarosa took the win for the Northstars, the left-hander surrendered four runs on two hits over three and two-thirds innings with two strikeouts.
The Havre Northstars improve to (7-6) on the season. Back in action Sunday with a double-header vs the Billings Blue Jays.
