Northstars Win First Matchup of 2023 North ‘A’ District Tournament

The Havre Northstars opened up postseason play at the North ‘A’ District Tournament in Vauxhall on Thursday. The No. 1 overall seed was able to move on with a (4-1) victory over the Fort Macleod Royals.

Drake Berreth was the winning pitcher for Havre as he went five innings, giving up one run on two hits and striking out seven Royals with only one walk.

The game was tied (1-1) into the sixth inning until the Northstars got a rally going. Berreth had an RBI double and the next batter, Kale Reno, singled to score Berreth from second. Two batters later, it was Colter Solomon who doubled in Quinn Elliott. Elliott also pitched the final two innings with one hit allowed and three strikeouts.

Havre will now face the No 4 Lewistown Redbirds, who walked off the Great Falls Chargers in the first game of the tournament. The Northstars went (5-0) against their next opponents during the regular season. Northstars-Redbirds will be a 4pm first pitch from Vauxhall.
