(Vauxhall, Alberta) The Havre Northstars punched their ticket to the Championship game of the North District Legion baseball tournament and a spot in next week’s State Tournament with a dominating 12-3 win over Lethbridge on Saturday afternoon. Havre jumped in front in the bottom of the first inning on a Jevin Jenkins two RBI Double. They added another run in the bottom of the second. Colter Solomon Singled, Tyson Brandon laid down a sacrifice bunt and Ezra Pyle singled to make the score 3 to 0 after two complete innings. The Miners tied the score in their half of the third with three singles and a double.
The Northstars put the game away in their half of the fifth, with two outs, Jevin Jenkins walked, Drake Berreth singled. Chason Mader walked and then Colter Solomon and Tyson Brandon both doubled stretching the lead to seven to three. In the 6th, Havre took advantage of three hit batters, one Lethbridge error and a Brody Nanini double to make the lead 12 to 3 and seal the win.
Kale Reno went the distance on the mound for Havre, allowing 3 runs on six hits. He struck out 2 and walked 1.
With the win, The Northstars advance to the championship game Sunday afternoon at 1pm.
